SB 1143
Senate Bill 1143, written by Senator Carol Lui. The bill will change the current allocation model for higher education to receive funds. The current allocation model is based off how many full time students are enrolled at the Census date. The proposed change would make it so that funds are allocated based on how many full time students pass a class at the end of the semester. Instead of receiving the funds for the year at the Census date, the funds for the year would be received at the end of the year. The Associated Students of Las Positas College has approved a resolution in opposition of SB 1143.
Senate Bill 1143 passed the California Senate on Friday, June 4th with a vote of 22-11.
