Link Contrast Example
Allow for sufficient contrast between colors on a page and ensure that information conveyed by the use of color is understandable without color.
If you highlight a portion of your text with color, make sure that all information is available in a non-color format. For example, do not ask a user to "Select an item from the list of green links." Instead, present information so it is available through other means such as location on the page, title of the section, or comprehensive link context.
Example
Choose an animal from the left column to learn about Tame Animals. Choose an animal from the right column to learn about Wild Animals.
| Tame
Animals Cats Dogs Birds Hamsters Rabbits |
Wild
Animals Ducks Koalas Lions Monkeys Tigers |
Technique to Avoid
Choose a green link to learn about Tame Animals.
Choose a red link to learn about Wild Animals.
| Cats Dogs Birds Hamsters Rabbits |
