In an effort to provide employees advance notice, please note that the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District will operate on a 4-10 summer work schedule, with ten (10) hours of work scheduled for four (4) days, Monday through Thursday. Summer work hours will begin on Monday, June 3, and conclude on Thursday, August 1.
Departments will be closed on Fridays. A unit member, with management approval, has the option to work four (4) days [Monday through Thursday], either eight (8) or nine (9) hour days, but must use appropriate leave for the remaining hours per week.
As the July 4 holiday falls on a Thursday this year, individuals who are working four ten-hour days will work three ten-hour that week (30 hours) and will receive eight hours of holiday pay for the July 4 holiday for a total of 38 hours. The remaining two hours of work time shall be made up at a time arranged between the supervisor and the employee or the employee may choose to use vacation or other applicable leave.
Some service areas will have employees that will nor participate in the summer work schedule, and will be staffed at a level appropriate to meet service needs. These areas are identified as Maintenance and Operations; Safety and Security; Chabot College Children’s Center, College Performing Arts Centers, and Television Studio; Las Positas College Child Development Center. Supervisors of these service areas will meet with their staff to determine their summer work schedule.
Please recognize that due to a business necessity, a manager may need to modify an employee’s summer work schedule. If a schedule modification becomes necessary, supervisors will talk directly with employees as soon as it is possible.
