Pre-Professional Pathway
Las Positas College students who plan to go professional schools (medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and optometry) can complete their biological sciences prerequisites typically by taking our core sequence of Biology Majors courses (Biology 1, Botany 1, and Zoology 1). Biology 31 is recommended, but not required, for Botany 1 and Zoology 1. Other typical lower-division requirements for these professions include chemistry, physics, and math, plus general education courses. Certain programs require other courses such as Microbiology 1.
