THE LAS POSITAS DEBIT CARD
FOR FINANCIAL AID PAYMENTS!
Dear Las Positas Student,
Beginning in August 2008, Las Positas College will be partnering with Higher One, a financial services company focused solely on higher education, to bring a new method for receiving your financial aid grant payments (also referred to as ‘refunds’) — the Las Positas Debit Card. This card will be mailed to you by the end of the first week in August. Please do not throw away this important card since it is your ticket to receiving faster grant funds!
Simply put, your new Las Positas Debit Card is designed to provide you with increased choice when it comes to receiving your financial aid payments/refunds. ‘Easy Refund’ is the fastest and easiest way to gain access to your grant money--literally the same day Las Positas College releases it. Other choices include having grant funds transferred by EFT to your current checking account, or you can still be mailed a paper check (to your address only). You need to choose a method of payment as soon as you receive your debit card. By far the fastest method of receiving payment is by opening a Higher One debit card account. There will be a Higher One ATM machine installed on campus for free access to cash from your Higher One account.
Please activate your card as soon as you receive it. Even if you are not expecting to be eligible for a financial aid grant from Las Positas College, you may become eligible in the future. If you are not eligible for a grant this year, you can still open a free Higher one debit/checking account for personal use.
If you’re not sure that Las Positas College has your current mailing address, please download the Personal Data Form (http://www.laspositascollege.edu/admissions/documents/PersDataChg.pdf , complete, sign and submit to the Las Positas Financial Aid Office to update your address information today. Your new Las Positas Debit Card will be mailed to your current address on file with Las Positas’ Admissions & Records Office. Therefore, it is critical that you verify your official college mailing address as soon as possible.
