High School Student Use Policy - LPC Library

Las Positas College Library will help students who are looking for information on topics that are not available in local high school or public libraries.

The students must plan to come to do their own research. They may not send someone to do it for them. We will assist and teach them how to use our resources as time permits.

Students should plan to photocopy short articles or chapters (10 cents per page). Advanced Placement students may arrange to get a short-term library card and check out materials, if they find pertinent lengthy materials.

Visiting student researchers may use the Library Lab computers for research only. Because the Library Computer Lab is designed for LPC student use, a librarian must help visitors get past the initial screen to get to the catalog and databases. There is a fee for printing from any computer. A PRINT FEE CARD can be purchased from the Bookstore (discount card) or from the card dispenser in the Library (not discounted). Information from LPC databases may be downloaded to disk or emailed home to avoid print fees.

Information needed for short-term library cards (one month):

  1. Home address and telephone number
  2. Name of high school students attend (school I.D. required) and teacher's name
  3. Social Security Number
  4. Written copy of assignment given out by the instructor

Please call in advance of your visit to give the librarians a chance to work out the details with you to make it a pleasant and productive experience.

Students may park in the Student Parking Lots and purchase a Daily Parking Permit $2.00 each visit; there are no free parking spaces. Tickets are issued for parking in improper spaces or parking without the daily permit.

For more information you may call or e-mail one of the reference librarians at LPC Librarian .
