Database News from the LPC Library
Summer 2012: There Will Be Several Developments to the Library's Electronic Resources
1. NoodleBib has announced it will upgrade its interface, which incorporates many new features including the ability to convert projects between citation styles (MLA to APA and vice versa). If you have two minutes to spare, you may want to watch a sneak peek of the upcoming changes http://www.noodletools.com/software/demo2012/ . The upgrade is expected to take place early summer but no exact date has been listed. We will keep you posted.
2. Academic Search Complete(EbscoHost), a much larger multi-discipline database of 8,750 full-text journals, will replace Academic Search Premier (4,600 full-text titles). The new database URL will be posted on the library homepage soon after the end of the semester.
3. Biological Science Collection will be added to our collection to support science research projects and assignments. For more information, see http://www.proquest.com/assets/literature/products/databases/bioscience.pdf. The look is similar to Ethnic NewsWatch and GenderWatch so your students will already be familiar with the search interface. Access will be available in July.
4. Further into the future, the New York Times will be withdrawing its full-text articles from Newspaper Source Plus (Ebscohost) at end of 2012. The publisher has made some drastic changes to its licensing rights to the database vendors. Please keep this in mind when preparing your assignments.
Please let the reference librarians know if you have any questions.
