Emergency Medical Services EMT-Paramedic Certificate of Achievement (CA)

About the Program

This program is designed to prepare students to take and pass the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (NREMTP) examination so they can become Licensed Paramedics in the state of California. It also prepares students to transfer and earn a BA in Paramedics. Students that complete the Certificate of Achievement in Emergency Medical Services EMT-Paramedic degree are able to gain employment as paramedic firefighters, paramedics on ambulances that serve the community as Advanced Life Support 9-1-1 providers, and in certain limited situations work in the hospital setting.

Career Opportunities

Students that earn this degree can find employment as a firefighter, paramedic with an ambulance company, and in specific and limited cases, work in a hospital.

Program Outcomes

  • Upon completion of the Certificate of Achievement in Emergency Medical Services EMT-Paramedic, students are prepared as a competent entry-level Paramedics in the affective (behavior) learning domain with or without exit points at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and/or Emergency Medical Technician, and/or Emergency Medical Responder levels.
  • Upon completion of the Certificate of Achievement in Emergency Medical Services EMT-Paramedic, students are prepared as a competent entry-level Paramedics in the psychomotor (skills) learning domain with or without exit points at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and/or Emergency Medical Technician, and/or Emergency Medical Responder levels.
  • Upon completion of the Certificate of Achievement in Emergency Medical Services EMT-Paramedic, students are prepared to become a Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP).
  • Upon completion of the Certificate of Achievement in Emergency Medical Services EMT-Paramedics, students are prepared as a competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge) learning domain with or without exit points at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and/or Emergency Medical Technician, and/or Emergency Medical Responder levels.
