Alka teachers "Hindi for Beginners" for age range 5-8 and 9-12. Sign your child up for her classes before the fill up!
Can you tell us a bit about your teaching background?
I've been teaching Hindi in the Bay Area for the last 23 years, facilitating
children's connection to their rich cultural heritage. As a substitute teacher in
the
USA , I've adeptly adapted methodologies used in American schools to ensure a
deeper understanding of Hindi among my students.
Why did you become a teacher?
I made the decision to become a teacher during my studies in Austria, where I
discovered the effectiveness of playful teaching methods regardless of age.
Coming from a background of traditional education, I was inspired to adopt
innovative approaches and introduce them to future generations. This desire
stemmed from recognizing the impact and engagement that playful methods can
have on learning outcomes, motivating me to contribute positively to education
by embracing modern teaching techniques.
What is one of your proudest teaching moments?
One of my proudest moments as a teacher is when students who have relocated
to India after learning Hindi from me continue to express a desire to learn from
me, despite being surrounded by native speakers and numerous Hindi teachers in
their new environment. It's incredibly gratifying to know that they value our
connection and the teaching methods I employ, even when faced with alternative
options.
How would you describe your teaching style?
My teaching style is characterized by playfulness, interactivity, fun, and the use
of
visuals. I believe in creating an engaging learning environment where students
actively participate and enjoy the process of acquiring knowledge. Through
interactive activities, games, and multimedia presentations, I strive to make
learning enjoyable and memorable. Overall, my goal is to foster a dynamic
classroom atmosphere that sparks curiosity, creativity, and a passion for
learning.
Besides teaching what do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love traveling, cooking and dancing in my free time.
