Dual Enrollment
Did you know...
High School students can take college courses tuition free?!
Presentation from LPC Open House, 3-25-2023
Dual enrollment – also known as concurrent enrollment – enables high school students to take college courses, taught by college professors, either on our campus or at their school site. These courses can count toward the high school diploma, allowing students to get a head start on their higher education goals.
Dual Enrollment courses are tuition free, however, you may be required to pay for textbooks, materials, and other student fees.
Las Positas College offers many ways for students to participate in dual enrollment and/or earn college credit:
- The High School Credit Program - through partnership with Tri-Valley area school districts, we offer specially curated courses wherein students can pursue credit recovery or exceleration. To find out more about the courses offered for your school site, please contact your high school counselor.
- Middle College - an alternative education collaboration between the Tri-Valley Regional Occupational Program and Las Positas College. Middle College provides a supportive, academically rigorous environment for self-directed learners looking for a non-traditional collegiate pathway.
- Articulation - by working closely with our college, a high school could have courses, or a sequence of courses, evaluated for equivalency to earn college credit. High school students should consult with their high school counselor should they want to explore this option.
- Individual election - students can elect to participate in dual enrollment outside of the aforementioned programs by reviewing the College Catalog and applying for the Concurrent Enrollment process.
