Current status is identifying stakeholders from across the District and both Colleges that involves Student Services, Counseling, Financial Aid, and other areas to make the change happen. In addition, weekly meetings will begin in a week to get the process going.
- Tech help events took place before spring semester began. One event was a Student Orientation to help students become familiar with Canvas, Zone mail and other things. A total of 50 students attended. For Faculty, a Canvas hackathon and new Adjunct Faculty Orientation that went well.
- Couple technical issues took place at the beginning of the semester with the integrations of Canvas, Pronto, and Pope Tech
- In the DE Committee they mentioned there are 60 web pages that have information about instructional technology, canvas, tools and dozens of individual canvas shells on singular topics which include hypotheses for digital annotation or AI. Work will be done over the break to consolidate lots of information into one tool for teaching canvas shell.

- Dream Center website is being worked on after Financial Aid reached out to mention that information on the website is incorrect.
- Additional web updates are in progress with moving other sites into the newer template.
- Asked about the LPC App, we will be discontinuing it soon.
Distict: ITS - Bruce Griffin
- Bruce Griffin discussed enrollment fraud as a significant issue at the state level and how various security measures are in place to combat it. The state applies a fraud filter at the application stage, blocking thousands of fraudulent attempts before they reach colleges. However, some fraudulent applications still get through, requiring further manual review at the college level.
- He highlighted how fraud tactics continuously evolve, requiring constant updates to filtering systems. Statistics showed a significant increase in flagged applications, with Las Positas College (LPC) identifying 5,500 fraudulent applications this term and Chabot College flagging over 11,000.
- Bruce also mentioned ongoing efforts to integrate AI tools to automate fraud detection more effectively, although AI alone is not a complete solution. He acknowledged concerns about decentralized systems making fraud prevention difficult and the state’s inconsistent approach to addressing the problem.
- Other topics included preparations for a winter intersession in the 2025-26 academic year, IT improvements such as authentication for library databases, and potential future integrations of student email and authentication systems.
- The discussion also touched on broader IT concerns, such as student email systems (Gmail vs. Microsoft), spam filters, and challenges in integrating third-party tools like Grammarly.
