Program Summary
Las Positas College A2MEND Program includes mentor relationship building. This is focused on mentor/mentee relationships that improve educational outcomes, graduation, transfer, and persistence rates. This aligns with the college’s institutional change efforts while seeking to close achievement gaps for men of color. It creates a greater sense of campus connection and belonging. The mentor program utilizes the existing efforts of A2MEND, Puente, BSU, and UMOJA. By tapping into campus organizations and clubs I have aided the success of our program. I utilize the Black Cultural Resource Center and the Gym as hubs to meet with students to conduct workshops, host events, guest speakers, and allow for one on one and group meetings. There are currently over 55 Charters in State and Nationwide. We boast being the 1st Charter of the Year 2024.
