Verification Request

As long as you meet NextUp eligibility guidelines and provide supporting documentation, you will be eligible to participate in the program as long as you are enrolled at Las Positas College.

How to get my verification documentation?

There are several options in terms of acceptable documentation. Please refer the options below as a guide. 

  • If you are no longer in foster care but were  in a court-ordered foster placement between the ages of 13 and 25 , you can request verification documents through the Office of the Foster Care Ombudsperson.

  • Submit any one of the forms of verification documentation from the list below to one of our NextUp team members.
Acceptable NextUp eligibility verification documents
  • Letter from the Office of the Foster Care Ombudsperson
  • Letter from a County Child Welfare Agency, County Probation Agency, or Independent Living Program.
  • Letter from a foster care placement agency (such as a Foster Family Agency (FFA) or Transitional Housing Placement for Nonminor Dependents (THP-NMD) provider)
  • Letter from a Transitional Housing Program-Plus (THP-Plus) provider
  • Letter from a County Office of Education Foster Youth Services Coordinating Program (FYSCP)
  • Letter from a high school district
  • Letter from a state or county child welfare agency outside of California Court documents that specify that the student is currently in foster care or the date on which the student exited foster care.
  • Other comparable forms of documentation showing you were in care at least one day since age 13 and you are under 26 years old.
