What's Mixed-Status?
Our program defines "mixed-status student" as a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident who has undocumented family members. That might mean parents, siblings, partners, or other loved ones. Mixed status students often carry the hopes, worries, and responsibilities of more that one world, and that makes them strong, resourceful, and deeply valued in our community.

If you have undocumented family members, you're not alone. Mixed status families are an essential part of our community, our campus, and our Undocumented Student Support Center.
We understand that having undocumented loved ones can shape how you experience college. You may carry extra stress, worry about your family's safety, or feel pressure to succeed for more than just yourself. We see that. And we're here for you.
Our Services Are For You
Our Program resources are open to students from mixed-status families, too!
Whether you need help with financial aid, legal information for a loved one, or just
a supportive place to meet people who get it, we've got you.
Some services may have eligibility requirements, but we'll walk through those together.
Across California, as of 2023, more than 3.3 million people (U.S. citizens and lawful
residents) live in mixed-status families with undocumented immigrants.
