Commercial Music: Music Technology Fundamentals

 

 The Certificate of Achievement in Commercial Music: Music Technology Fundamentals is designed for students who wish to learn or enhance their skills in music technology and become proficient in industry standard software and equipment such as Logic, ProTools, Sibelius, pre-amps, mixing boards, and a variety of microphones. Completion of the program will give students the fundamental knowledge and hands-on experience needed to pursue a career in the field.

Careers in Music Technology include recording engineer, film composer, producer, sound technician, foley artist, live sound engineer, mastering engineer, recording mixer, music editor, sound designer, DJ/remixer.

Program Outcomes

Upon completion of the Certificate of Achievement in Commercial Music: Music Technology Fundamentals, students are able to demonstrate advanced techniques using a Digital Audio Workstation program with MIDI and live audio capability.

Upon completion of the Certificate of Achievement in Commercial Music: Music Technology Fundamentals, students are able to present completed audio projects using recorded live audio with appropriate editing, mixing, and mastering techniques.

Commercial Music: Music Technology and Production

(Pending state Approval - will be offered Fall 2026)

The Certificate of Achievement in Music Technology and Production is designed to preparestudents for employment in the commercial music and audio production industry. The program providescomprehensive, hands-on training in recording, mixing, and production using industry-standardequipment and software. Students develop a strong foundation in music technology, critical listening,and collaborative production practices. Emphasis is placed on the integration of technical and artisticskills applicable to recording studios, live sound, broadcast, film, and other media environments. Uponcompletion of the program, students will possess the knowledge, technical proficiency, and practicalexperience necessary for successful entry into the workforce or for continued study in music technology,production, or related fields.
