Vocal Ensembles
Chamber Choir - MUS 45
Chamber Choir is the top choral ensemble at Las Positas College. This auditioned group performs several times per semester both on and off campus, including festival and touring opportunities. Styles of music range from classic major works to modern contemporary compositions. Emphasis on development of vocal ensemble concepts, improvements in vocal technique and musicianship, and effective performance practices.
Chamber meets Tues/Thur - 4:00-6:05pm, with additional TBA hours and is under the direction of Andreas Preponis.

Vocal Jazz Ensemble - MUS 46
Vocal Jazz Ensemble is the premiere vocal jazz ensemble of Las Positas College. A modern-day cross between choir and jazz band, this group explores repertoire from all types of music, including jazz, R&B, pop, rock, funk, and anything in between. The group travels to vocal jazz festivals regularly and is growing into a regular performance presence in the Tri-Valley Community. Emphasis on jazz vocal style, development of musicianship, understanding of music technology, and effective performance practices.
Vocal Jazz Ensemble meets Mon/Wed 4:00-6:05pm, with additional TBA hours and is under under the direction of Andreas Preponis.

Concert Choir - MUS 44
Concert Choir is a non-auditioned ensemble open to all interested parties regardless of experience or musical background. The class involves a strong emphasis on development of music fundamentals, vocal technique, and overall ensemble concepts. A range of musical styles are explored, meaning the choir is designed to prepare singers to audition into both Chamber Choir and Vocal East in future semesters.
