Doug Siebum has spent over 20 years in the entertainment industry. He has worked in Sacramento, Los Angeles, and the SF Bay Area. He’s done everything from working as a live sound engineer, stagehand, stage manager, audio engineer for live and recorded broadcast TV, AV tech, audiobook editor, and various positions in post production sound for television and film.
His career started in high school, when he would help his friends load in the gear for their band when they had shows. Later, he would help a couple of friends who were DJ’s set up and tear down their events. He spent time hanging out in recording studios with his friends and eventually one of them suggested that he learn to run the equipment.
While pursuing a degree in audio recording from Sacramento City College, he started doing sound for a local theatre called The Studio Theatre. That was his first regular paid sound gig. He moved to Los Angeles where he started working at an online radio station that played reggaeton music. This was his first sound editing job. While working at the radio station, he spent evenings and weekends mixing his first feature film, Come Together, which received first a domestic and then international distribution deal. He started working weekends at a pro sports stadium, which is now the Dignity Health Sports Complex, home to the LA Galaxy and Chivas USA. In December 2008, the online radio station closed. Mr. Siebum continued his work in post production for television and film and also started focusing more on live sound for clubs, concerts, music festivals, and live sports broadcasts. Around 2012, he also started editing and mastering audiobooks for Bee Audio. He has edited hundreds of audiobooks.
In 2013 he had multiple newspaper articles, a blog, and a chapter in the book Beyond Sound written about his career. In 2013, he moved to the SF Bay Area, where he continued
working in the industry while pursuing his Master’s degree at SFSU. Since then he
has focused mainly on working in post production sound for television and film and
