Radiation Safety
The Radiation Safety sequence is a modularized series of courses designed to provide basic radiation safety instruction. Knowledge gained from taking the sequence of classes includes identification of the sources of radiation and radioactive materials, the nature of ionization radiation, biological effects, risk assessment, protection strategies, environmental impacts, and waste handling.

Radiation Safety Courses
RADS 40A - Radiation Safety
2 units
A course designed to provide basic radiation safety instruction. Includes identification of the sources of radiation and radioactive materials, the nature of ionization radiation, biological effects, and risk assessment. Strongly Recommended: MATH 110 with a minimum grade of C or MATH 110B with a minimum grade of C. 36 hours lecture. Transfer: CSU.

RADS 40B - Emergency Response and Monitoring
1 unit
A course designed to provide overview and understanding of radiological emergencies and instrumentation. Builds upon principles, concepts, and terminology from 40A, and introduces practical use of radiological survey equipment. Prerequisite: RADS 40A with a minimum grade of C. 18 hours lecture. Transfer: CSU.

RADS 40C - Safety Controls and Regulation
