Getting Started

The courses listed below are the Required Core Program Entrance Courses for the Surgical Technology program and must be completed prior to entering the core course work of the program. The Surgical Technology Program is a full time day program. Review of your transcript in consultation with a counselor will determine and develop your Student Education Plan for completion of the Surgical Technology program.

Required Core Program Entrance Courses*:
(Before taking SURG 50):

  • Biology 31 (Introduction to College Biology) - 4 units
  • Anatomy 1 (General Human Anatomy) -  5 units
  • English 1A (Critical Reading and Composition) -  3 units
  • Mathematics 65 (Elementary Algebra) -  5 units
  • Health Science 51A (Basic Medical Terminology) – 4 units
    • {or} Health Science 52 (Basic Medical Terminology for Allied Health) – 3 units
    • *The Required Core Program Entrance Courses must be met prior to applying for entry to the program for an Associates of Science Major Surgical Technology or the Surgical Technology Certificate Program.
