High School Students - Concurrent Enrollment

Las Positas College provides the opportunity for high school students to enroll concurrently in college-level courses. High school students who desire to participate in concurrent enrollment must be recommended by their high school principal and have written parental permission. Further information on the Concurrent Enrollment policy is available at the student's high school, and at the Office of Admissions and Records in Bldg 1600.

We are happy to be able to offer High School students the opportunity to enroll concurrently for the Spring, Summer, & Fall semesters.

Please be aware that concurrent enrollment students are subject to certain restrictions/limitations. Please review the following:

  • You will notice that we are accepting high school sophmores, juniors and seniors only.
  • Unit limitations - Summer is limited to 6 units, Fall is limited to 11 units.
  • Application deadlines - Summer deadline is May 21, Fall deadline is July 16.
    • We will not accept any applications after these dates. No exceptions.
    • Incomplete applications will not be accepted or processed.
    • Applications will not be accepted for courses that are closed or full.
  • A later registration date - Summer registration begins June 9, Fall registration begins August 4.
    • Registration may be completed only after college approval.
    • Concurrent Enrollment students are not permitted to register before the dates indicated - classes may be dropped for non-compliance.
  • For best course selection: completed applications should be submitted well before the deadline dates as classes are limited.

STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE ALL STEPS EVERY SEMESTER

ATTENTION: Students who complete paperwork for the LPC Concurrent Enrollment Program may ONLY register for LPC classes. Those who wish to register in a class at Chabot College MUST complete paperwork for the Chabot Concurrent Enrollment Program and are subject to Chabot's program restrictions (no PE, no Basic Skills, no ESL, etc.) < Click here to go to Chabot's Concurrent Enrollment website >

Concurrent Enrollment Admission Steps

SUMMER 2014

  1. Please review this General Information flyer (PDF) for the SUMMER 2014 semester.
  2. Complete the Admissions Application online when available FOR SUMMER 2014.
  3. Print the confirmation page for your records.
  4. Attach a copy of your current high school transcript, and (if applicable) an official copy of your AP TEST score in a sealed envelope.
  5. Fill out a Concurrent Enrollment Recommendation Form (PDF) for Summer 2014 classes; obtain all necessary signatures.
  6. Fill out the Parent/Guardian Authorization Form for Minors (PDF).
  7. Submit all the above completed forms to LPC Admissions & Records no later than the posted date MAY 21, 2014.

FALL 2014

  1. Please review this General Information flyer (PDF) for the FALL 2014 semester.
  2. Complete the online Admissions Application when available FOR FALL 2014.
  3. Print the confirmation page for your records.
  4. Attach a copy of your current high school transcript, and (if applicable) an official copy of your AP TEST score in a sealed envelope.
  5. Fill out the Concurrent Enrollment Recommendation Form (PDF); obtain all necessary signatures.
  6. Fill out the Parent/Guardian Authorization Form for Minors (PDF).
  7. All students are strongly advised to take the Math and English assessment to determine their ability to benefit in college level courses. Go to http://www.laspositascollege.edu/assessment center/scheduleinfo.php to sign up.
  8. Submit all the above completed forms to LPC Admissions & Records no later than the posted date JULY 16, 2014 .

Assessment Test

Students must take the Assessment test if intending to take any Math, English, or Chemistry 1 classes or any classes with a prerequisite in Math or English. All students are strongly advised to take the Math and English assessment to determine their ability to benefit in college level courses. Registration

Students with approved forms may begin registering for classes ONLINE via CLASS-Web or The ZONE on the following dates: June 9, 2014 for Summer 2014 and August 4, 2014 for Fall 2014.

DSPS College Transition Class only:

  1. Complete the online Admissions Application when available (select SPRING 2014)
  2. Print the confirmation page for your records.
  3. Attach a copy of your current high school transcript, and (if applicable) an official copy of your AP TEST score in a sealed envelope.
  4. Fill out the Concurrent Enrollment Recommendation Form (PDF); obtain all necessary signatures.
  5. Fill out the Parent/Guardian Authorization Form for Minors (PDF).
  6. Submit all completed forms to Disability Resource Center (DRC) building 1600, room 1615 to Nicole Buono nbuono@laspositascollege.edu, Please complete the packet ASAP.

 

Livermore Valley Chapter Preparatory (LVCP) only:

  1. Download and print a paper Admissions Application (PDF) for the FALL 2014 semester.
  2. Attach a copy of your current high school transcript, and (if applicable) an official copy of your AP TEST score in a sealed envelope.
  3. Fill out the Concurrent Enrollment Recommendation Form (PDF); obtain all necessary signatures.
  4. Fill out the Parent/Guardian Authorization Form for Minors (PDF).
  5. All students are strongly advised to take the Math and English assessment to determine their ability to benefit in college level courses. Go to http://www.laspositascollege.edu/assessment center/scheduleinfo.php to sign up.
  6. Submit all completed forms to LVCP to the registrar Sondra Graef, send her an email to: sgraef@lvcp.org , or call her at 925-456-9000 ext 145, no later than the posted date APRIL 11, 2014.
