High School Students - Concurrent Enrollment

Las Positas College provides the opportunity for high school students to enroll concurrently in college-level courses. High school students who desire to participate in concurrent enrollment must be recommended by their high school principal and have written parental permission. Further information on the Concurrent Enrollment policy is available at the student's high school, and the Office of Admissions and Records at Las Positas College.

Concurrent Enrollment Information for High School Students - Summer/Fall 2008

We are happy to be able to offer High School students the opportunity to enroll concurrently for Summer/Fall 2008. Please look over the General Information Form (57K PDF) very carefully. You will notice that we are accepting students who are sophmores, juniors and seniors; we have unit limitations, an application deadline and later registration period.

Summer/Fall 2008 Admission Steps

  1. Fill out the Admissions Application for the college. (No materials may be submitted online.)
  2. Fill out the Concurrent Enrollment Recommendation Form (32K PDF) ; obtain all necessary signatures.
  3. Fill out the Health Care Authorization Form.
  4. Submit current high school transcript.
  5. Turn in separate completed forms for Summer/Fall 2008 to Las Positas College Admissions and Records at least three (3) weeks before the term begins (May 26 for Summer classes - July 28 for Fall classes).
    ***Incomplete applications will not be accepted***
    Applications may still be submitted after the 3 week deadline, however, students will not be able to enroll in their classes on the May 21st Concurrent Enrollment student registration date.

Assessment Test

If you are intending to take any Math, English, or Chemistry 1 classes or any classes with a prerequisite in Math or English you must take the Assessment test. All students are strongly advised to take the Math and English assessment to determine their ability to benefit in college level courses.

Accepted high school students may register for classes ONLINE beginning May 21, 2008 via CLASS-Web.

Concurrent Enrollment Forms

High school students must complete the following forms and submit them to the Office of Admissions and Records to be considered for Concurrent Enrollment status.

Concurrent Enrollment with University of California, Berkeley

Students who have completed 20 units with a 2.4 Grade Point Average in transferable course work may be eligible to cross-register with University of California, Berkeley while completing course work at Las Positas. Students must be a full-time student (12 units) between the two campuses and may enroll in one lower division course (numbered 1-99 at UC, Berkeley). For further information, contact the Career/Transfer/Employment Center.

Cross Registration with California State University, East Bay

Students who have completed 20 units may be eligible to cross-register with California State University, East Bay while completing course work at Las Positas. Las Positas College students who elect to "cross-register" may enroll in courses at the four year institution which are either: (1) upper division or (2) not offered at any time by Las Positas College. For further information, contact the Dean of Admissions and Records.

Dual Admission

Dual Admission is a special program offered in conjunction with California State University (CSU) East Bay for first-time freshmen. Students interested in transferring to CSU Hayward are required to transfer within four years, complete a general education pattern, and have a 2.0 Grade Point Average (GPA). Students who have enrolled in this program are eligible to receive CSU services while attending Las Positas College. These services include:
