IRS DATA RETRIEVAL TOOL / Tax Return Transcript
|You cannot submit your Federal Tax Return (1040, 1040A, etc.) to the Financial Aid Office if you are selected for verification. Unless you filed an Amended Tax Return. The IRS Data Retrieval Tool allows users to link to the IRS Web site and securely transfer original IRS tax return information into their FAFSA, but not Form 1040X amended tax return information. Therefore, your IRS tax return information may not completely reflect what you need to report on the FAFSA. Remember, the Form 1040X is used to correct your original filed tax return.|
If you filed an AMENDED TAX RETURN, we will need a copy of the original signed tax return, a transcript obtained from the IRS that lists tax account information of the tax filer for the tax year, and a copy of the IRS Form 1040X that was filed with the IRS.
