Loan Deferments
Las Positas College processes loan deferment requests through the National Student Loan Clearinghouse. Deferment forms should be filled out by the student with pertinent student information and must indicate the name and mailing address of the lender/holder of the loan. It must also indicate the semester for which the student wants enrollment to be verified. The deferment request is submitted to the Financial Aid office, and is then forwarded to the NSLC for processing.
Enrollment records for all LPC students are transmitted electronically to the NSLC three times each semester:
- Immediately following the add/drop period at the beginning of the term;
- Between the 10th and 11th week of the term, and
- Immediately following the end of the term.
Deferments will not be processed until the NSLC has processed
the transmission received from LPC. It takes approximately one
week for the NSLC to process a deferment after receipt and/or
after transmission has been received.Please note: students are
not eligible for a deferment for halftime attendance unless they
are enrolled in 6 or more units at ONE college; students enrolled
less than halftime at two different colleges are not eligible
for deferment.
