Associate of Science (AS) Degree (pdf)

Las Positas College offers the Associate Degree. These degrees include Career Technical Education programs designed to prepare for direct job entry, Transfer Preparation programs designed to prepare students for transfer to a University in baccalaureate program, and Local programs designed to as a record of academic achievement.  The AS Degree is primarily for any Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field and Career Technical Education programs.

Graduation Requirements:

  1. Select a major and complete all major requirements plus GE and electives to total 60 or more units. 
  2. Complete a minimum of 60 units with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better. 
  3. Complete a minimum of 12 units at Las Positas College. 
  4. Complete all General Education (GE) Requirements for the Associate of Science Degree, IGETC (for CSU), or CSU GE-B.
  5. All courses required for the Major must be completed with a ‘C’ or higher or ‘P.’

General Education courses are grouped into several broad areas and are designed to cultivate intellect and imagination and to broaden awareness of the relationship and interdependence of ideas and disciplines. Please note: Courses may be listed in more than one area but will NOT be certified more than once, unless otherwise stated. For a course to meet an AS requirement, the course must be on the AS pattern during the academic year it is taken.
