Logging into Blackboard
Logging in for the very first time is a 5-step process. Please adhere to the steps below, and do not skip any. After you complete these initial steps, you can simply access your class by logging in from the Blackboard login page.
If you had a Blackboard account from the previous semester (at either LPC or Chabot College), your login information and email address remain.
Step 1: Go to the Blackboard login page.
The URL of the login page is http://clpccd.blackboard.com (clicking this link will pop open a new window). In case you are curious, clpccd stands for Chabot-Las Positas Community College District. Also, you will not be able to log in until the first day of class.
Make sure you bookmark (or add to your Favorites) this page to ensure quick access to your course(s) throughout the semester.
Click the Login button.
Step 2: Log into Blackboard
Username: Your User Identification Number, which is a unique number beginning with a W and containing 8 digits. Learn more about your UIN.
Password: the first two letters of your first name, followed by the first two letters of your last name (all lowercase), followed by the last four digits of your User Identification Number.
For example, Maria Valdez with a User Identification Number of W98765432 would log in as:
Username: W98765432
Password: mava5432 (all lowercase letters + last four digits)
Notes:
- If you were enrolled in a previous Blackboard course at LPC, your login will allow you to access Blackboard, but you will not be able to access any old courses.
- If you happen to forget or misplace new User Identification Number, you can always obtain it by logging into CLASS-Web with your old Student ID number and clicking the “What’s my new User ID?” link.
- Important: If you added a course late, there might be a 4-hour delay from the time you are officially enrolled in the course and your Blackboard account is created.
Step 3: Enter your email address
Your Blackboard account was set up with a generic, default address of student@student.com. This address does not work. You need to enter your real email address.
Once you log in, you will arrive at your My Institution page. Click Personal Information on the left.
Click Edit Personal Information. Enter your email address in the text field next to Email. Delete the generic email address that is there.
Click Submit at the bottom. Click OK at the next screen. Note that once you do this, you change your email address for any other Blackboard courses you are currently enrolled in.
Step 4: Change your password
You will be taken back to the Personal Information page. Click Change Password. Enter a unique password that you will remember in the Password and Verify Password fields. Click Submit at the bottom. Click OK.
It's always good practice to write your new password down in a safe place in case you forget it.
Step 5: Access your course
Click the My Institution tab at the upper left. Under My Courses on the right, click the link to your class to enter it. Upon entering your class, read any announcements present.
That's it! You are now ready to proceed in your course!
