Succeeding in an Online Course

Copyright

Copyright law does not allow you to download and forever keep the materials in an online course. If there are materials created by your instructor, and you want to keep them beyond the end of the class, you need to ask the instructor's permission.

In fact, it's good practice to always ask for permission to download anyone else's materials from the Web. You can typically find contact information on a Web site's home page. You might also find copyright information there, too.

Either in the Announcements section or in the syllabus of your online course, you should find the following statement:

"Materials used in connection with this course might be subject to copyright protection. Learn more about copyright at the U.S. Copyright Office web site at http://lcweb.loc.gov/copyright."
