The Writing Center
The Writing Center, located in room 2401 (the Reading Room and Tutorial Center), provides services for enrolled Las Positas College students in all disciplines. Stop in to see one of the English/ESL Writing Specialists (see hours of operation below).:
These services include:
- one-one-one help with writing assignments
- drop in, no appointment necessary
- on-line grammar and reference resources
- a collection of standard and ESL dictionaries
- resources for and guidance on research citation
Writing Center Hours
The Writing Center can help students with any writing assignments. We provide 20 minute drop-in meetings
on a first-come, first-served basis. Justin Garoupa, the Writing Center coordinator, is available for classroom visits to talk about the Writing Center, or if you would like, he can make copies of the informational flyer for your class (contact information below).
THE WRITING CENTER OPENS September 19, 2011
- Monday and Tuesday: 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.
- Wednesday and Thursday: 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Online Help for Writers
For immediate help with your writing assignments, check out the LPC Reading & Writing (RAW) Resources site. Click on "Help for Students" to find help on any stage of the writing process including brainstorming, thesis writing, and draft editing.
Also, the Online Writing Lab can give you all kinds of tips, such as when to use a comma, how to organize a term paper, or how to streamline the way you write with a computer.
