Logging into Blackboard via The Zone
Logging into Blackboard via The Zone gives you immediate access to Blackboard and also to your student email account.
Step 1: Go to The Zone
The URL of The Zone is http://myportal.clpccd.cc.ca.us (clicking this link will open a new window). In case you are curious, clpccd stands for Chabot-Las Positas Community College District. Also, you will probably not be able to access your Blackboard class(es) until the first day of class.
Make sure you bookmark (or add to your Favorites) this page to ensure quick access to your course(s) throughout the semester.
Click the Login button.
Step 2: Log into The Zone
User ID: Your User Identification Number (W number), which is a unique number beginning with a W and containing 8 digits. Learn more about your UIN.
PIN: Your CLASS-Web PIN. If you have not logged into CLASS-Web before, the default is set to your date of birth in the format MMDDYY. To change your PIN, do so in CLASS-Web.
Step 3: Access your course
Click the Blackboard tab at the top, then click the link on the left to access Blackboard.
The first time you do this, The Zone will take you to an External Account Synchronization page where you need to enter your Blackboard password in order to synchronize Blackboard with The Zone. Your Blackboard password is the first two letters of your first name, followed by the first two letters of your last name (all lowercase), followed by the last four digits of your User Identification Number.
For example, Maria Valdez with a User Identification Number of W98765432 has a password of mava5432.
Click Save Account Information after you do this. From now on, each time you enter The Zone with your W number and PIN and click the Blackboard link, you will be taken directly to your My Institution page in Blackboard where you can access your courses. The only exception is if you change your password in Blackboard; in this case, The Zone will again ask for your Blackboard password.
Once in Blackboard, click the link to your class under My Courses on the right. Upon entering your class, read any announcements present.
That's it! You are now ready to proceed in your course!
Notes:
- If you were enrolled in a previous Blackboard course at LPC, your login will allow you to access Blackboard, but you should not be able to access any old courses.
- If you happen to forget or misplace your User Identification Number, you can always obtain it by logging into CLASS-Web with your old Student ID number and clicking the “What is my W ID” link.
- Important: If you added a course late, there might be a 1-day delay from the time you are officially enrolled in the course and your Blackboard account is created.
