Step 4: Apply the Lessons Learned
Analyze the achievement level of the class as a whole in eLumen. Did most of the class achieve the SLO? What was the overall result?
You might want to discuss the results with other faculty in your discipline and develop a plan for improving results the next time you teach the course. If you determine that improvements need to be made, you can modify the assessment, the rubric, or even the SLO itself.
Whatever you decide to do, put your plan into writing and enter it into eLumen.
To enter your notes/plan for your course into eLumen:
- Click My Course Offerings, then click Notes, and select term, course and section.
- Enter your notes, or plans, into the text box. Click Save.
Again, be sure to make the necessary modifications to your course.
After your department has evaluated all of the students' results, you need to take action and select what needs to be done to modify the course or purchase new equipment. Here are a list of actions you can choose from:

To enter your action into eLumen:
- Click My Course Offerings, then click Add Actions for a New Course.
- Select your course that you will add actions, then select your reporting term, and select the action area. For example, Modify Course. Click Save.
- To change the status of the action, click Status, then click the appropriate radio buttons. The Save is done automatically.
