Application & Registration Procedures for
RETURNING Students

 

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • Admissions and Records will be closed for Memorial Day Holiday on May 27.

  • We will be open from 9am - 1pm only on Tues May 28 for Concurrent Enrollment registration.

  • Our office will then be temporarily closed from May 27th thru June 5th to move to our new permanent location in the Student Services & Administration Building 1600, 2nd Floor.

 

STEP 1: Apply for Admission
If it has been more than one year since you last attended Las Positas College or Chabot College, you must complete an Application for Admission via the Las Positas College CCCApply website. You will be prompted to register with CCCApply as a new user, and then be directed to the online application. If you do not have internet access, you may complete a paper application available in Bldg 700, and submit in person or mail it to:

Allow 24 hours for processing your application before attempting to register. If you apply in person or by mail, then allow 2-3 business days for processing before attempting to register. There is no fee to apply.
 

Things to do before your registration date:

Have Transcripts Sent to Admission & Records Office
Any student enrolled at Las Positas College who desires academic credit for courses taken at other accredited colleges/universities must submit official transcripts of that work to the Office of Admissions and Records. It is the student's responsibility to initiate a request to each institution asking that an official transcript of his/her work be sent directly to the Office of Admissions and Records, Las Positas College.

For information on enrollment fee waivers and other sources of financial aid, contact the Financial Aid Office and/or apply for financial aid online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

STEP 2: Complete Online Orientation Session
Prior to scheduling an assessment testing session appointment, you need to complete the student online orientation.

Important: You must login with your 'W' number (student ID number) to receive credit for this orientation. To retrieve your 'W' number, click here.

The online orientation provides important information for new students about academic programs, class registration procedures, available student support services, and the assessment process.

STEP 3:

Attend an Assessment Session
Assessment Schedules are available online, in the Counseling Office, or in the current printed Class Schedule.Click here for online Assessment Schedule link.
Important: An advanced scheduled appointment is REQUIRED to attend any of assessment testing sessions for completion of English and Math assessments.
For non-native speakers of English, an appropriate English as a Second Language (ESL) test is also available at each of the assessment sessions.  ESL assessments DO NOT require an advanced scheduled appointment. Students may attend any of the testing sessions to complete assessment process for ESL.
After completing the assessment process you will sign up for a program planning session to obtain your assessment results and have an opportunity to meet with a counselor to discuss classes and help you to plan your first semester program of courses to begin progress toward your chosen goals.
Note: Purchase of a campus daily parking permit is required to attend most assessment sessions.

STEP 4: Review the Class Schedule
Before completing your schedule:
  1. make sure there are openings in the class you have chosen;
  2. make sure the classes you select do not overlap in times;
  3. check to see if your classes have prerequisites; and
  4. make certain you have met any prerequisites.
STEP 5: Register for Classes
Check the Schedule of Classes to select your classes, or view them online via CLASS-Web. Refer to the CLASS-Web Instructions on how to use our CLASS-Web online system and how to get your Student ID and PIN Numbers.
Adding a Class:
When a semester class has begun, students late in registering will need to check with instructor of desired class to see if they can be added to their class. NOTE: Priority numbers are determined after completing a full semester.
STEP 6: Pay Fees
Fees are normally due within ten days of registration. We currently offer the following options for payment: 1) Pay with a credit card online via CLASS-Web, 2) pay in person at the Admissions window in Building 700, 3) send a check or money order for full payment - DO NOT SEND CASH, or 4) Enroll in our convenient NBS Payment Program.
  Have your photo taken for a Student ID Card in Admissions & Records.
Students need a college ID card to purchase books and parking permit, to check out library books, as well as receive student discounts.
  Parking Permit
Parking Permit fees are found in the current CLASS-Schedule or on the parking web page. Permits are available ONLINE ONLY via CLASS-Web or at daily ticket machines located in most student parking lots. In order to purchase your permit, you will need to provide your Student ID (SSN) as well as your vehicle license plate number. Failure to display a parking permit, or parking in inappropriate spaces, will result in a citation. There are bike racks around college for bicyclists.
NOTE:
Financial Aid students will need to verify BOGW fee waiver status to receive a parking permit at a reduced fee of $20. EOPS students need to check with EOPS Office.
  Buy Books & College Print Card
Books can be purchased on line from the Bookstore website or in person at the LPC Bookstore (Building 1300). Be aware of the Bookstore check acceptance requirements, which are noted in the Class Schedule. Student IDs or verification of class schedule are required. In order to utilize college computers, all users are required to have purchased a college print card from the Bookstore.
