Orientation and Counseling
Students who are new to Las Positas College and without previous college experience are required to attend an orientation session prior to registering for classes. The orientation session is scheduled after the assessment session so that counselors can (1) interpret the results of the student's English and mathematics assessment tests, (2) give new students vital information for making informed decisions about their college career, and (3) help students select their first semester courses.
Counselors remain available to students throughout their college career to discuss concerns which may be affecting their academic progress.
Exemption Policy
You may be exempt from the orientation, assessment, or counseling aspects of matriculation due to your educational background or prior assessment.
