Access Club Job Descriptions
Club Advisor
The Advisor's job will be to advise the President or appointed representative of their obligations. He/She should also represent the club in staff meetings as needed. The Advisor may attend meetings, give input, and perform all duties of a member. He/She needs to give new Access Club Presidents their job descriptions and the job descriptions of his/her officers. Before elections these positions and their job descriptions need to be given to all who are interested, in an accessible format, so that all who are running or who wish to run have equal opportunities to know what they are running and/or voting for.
President
The job of the President of the Access Club at Las Positas College is to run monthly meetings, take the advice of members who attend meetings. He/She will need to take reports from all officers and appointees of their recent activities concerning the club. Major issues and/or, but not limited to, issues that are difficult to decide should be decided by a vote called on by the President.
Secretary
The secretary will have the obligation, but is not limited to, writing down important information that is said during meetings. The Secretary will give reports of the last meeting held on request of the President. Secretaries can also perform some or all tasks of a Communications Officer.
Treasurer
The treasurer's main objective is to keep track of all moneys coming into and out of possession of the Access club. He/She will report each meeting upon the Presidents request.
Communications Officer (optional)
This job is not necessarily an elected position. The president can appoint it. The communications officer can ask for a committee in order to complete their job. They are responsible for any and all communications requested or required by the club such as: flyers for an event, telephone calls to remind members for meetings or for fund raising, e-mail reminders, and all other communications in any sort of combination.
Members
All who attend meetings including officers are considered members. Members can add into or drop out of the club at any time for any reason. If in the event an officer drops out of the club, by vote of the remaining members, re-elections of that position can be done or re-elections of the entire club officers may take place. Members are able to vote in making any decision of the club. A 50% vote decides the direction in which events will take place. However, there must be a 2/3 vote in order to remove an officer or when voting on re-elections.
Non-member Disabled Students
Any person who signs up with the DSPS for services must be given the opportunity to join the access club, because inevitably we will be representing their interests and if they want a say in what we do they must be given the opportunity to join or not. All information about the club should be offered to all disabled students who sign-up with the DSPS.
