Career Planning & Decision Making Process

Our mission is to provide a supportive Center which teaches students and community members methods of research that will empower them through the career and education exploration process. The search for a satisfying career can be summarized into three main steps: self-discovery, research, and decision-making. The Center, in collaboration with counseling, EOPS, financial aid and our faculty, assist users through these steps.

Decision-Making and Goal Setting

Ask yourself - What do I really want? (Based on the above) What are you willing to do to achieve this goal? People really do have their own solutions. The problem is, either they don't know how to discover them, they avoid discovering them, or the solutions might seem too overwhelming. If you want to come up with good decisions for your work and your life, do some personal searching and then meet with an LPC counselor to discuss your plans. This is the time to realistically look at your motivation, financial obligations and time frame of your goal. Sometimes your goal can be just one class or a rather lengthy obligation. College and community resources can be helpful in reaching your goals so ask our staff about referrals to appropriate resources. Career development is an on going, life long process!
