The Financial Aid Office provides information on and assistance with grants, fee waivers, scholarships, loans, and federal work-study.
Financial aid is money provided by the government to help cover the costs associated with attending college. It is provided to ensure that everyone who wants a college education has the financial ability to pay for college expenses. Financial aid is also a partnership between you, the student, and Las Positas College. If you receive financial aid, it is expected that you will treat your education with the same kind of responsibility that you would a job.
Most financial aid is awarded to students based on demonstrated need. Many of the rules associated with receiving financial aid have been developed to make sure you, as a student, are treated fairly and to guarantee you take your share of responsibility in the partnership.
We understand that the rules that govern the financial aid programs can sometimes be complicated. However, our Financial Aid Office staff are available to answer your questions and provide special assistance if and when you need it.
