Information for Guests

General Information for Graduation Guests

Date, Time, Location

The Graduation Ceremony will be held Friday, May 30 at 6:00 p.m. Due to college growth and being under construction, the ceremony will be held in the PE Complex and seating will be limited and tickets are required.

Guests who have tickets need to be aware that the doors to the PE Complex will be open until 6:15 p.m. After this time, guests will be directed to view the ceremony via our live feed arena, located in Room 2420.

Commencement Programs

Staff and volunteers will be handing out programs to all guests. If you would like an additional copy, please contact Karen Kit in the Office of the Vice President of Student Services at 925.424.1406.

Flowers and Balloons

Once the ceremony begins and the grads are walking in, we ask that you please not give anything [e.g., flowers, balloons] to the graduates until after the ceremony. There may be a vendor at the front of the venue selling balloons and flowers.

Reception

The Associated Students of Las Positas College (ASLPC) sponsors a small reception for graduates and guests after the ceremony in front of the PE Complex.

Interested in Volunteering?

Las Positas College students, staff and faculty that would like to volunteer to help are asked to contact Kit.

Guests with Disabilities

For guests with physical disabilities or special medical conditions, please contact Karen Kit in the Office of the Vice President of Student Services at 925.424.1406.

The college will have a sign language interpreter signing the ceremony for hearing-impaired guests.

Photographs & Videotaping

The College hires a professional photographer to take graduate photos as well as a video-photographer to tape the ceremony. Family and guests will be allowed to take pictures after the ceremony is complete.

Electronic Devices

All electronic devices (e.g., cell phones, pagers) must be silenced during the ceremony.

Child Care

Child Care services are not provided. Children need to remain with a responsible adult at all times.

First Aid

Our Health Center and Security Office will staff the first aid station.

No Smoking, Alcohol or Illegal Substances Allowed

During the ceremony no smoking is allowed. We request that guests utilize the parking lot or designated smoke shelters away from the soccer field.

Alcoholic beverages are not allowed.

No Animals

For health and safety reasons, animals are not allowed at the graduation ceremony unless they are registered guide dogs.
