These are exciting times for the Math Department.
This semester we will be…
- Hiring 3 new full time faculty members
- Continue work on revamping our Elementary and Intermediate Algebra courses, including redesigning the course outlines and selecting textbook & technology to use in our courses, starting Fall 2009
- Collaboratively working on activities that students can engage in around our SLOs that will promote understanding of some difficult concepts in our courses. We will be working on math labs, in-class collaboratives, lecture examples, etc.
- Continuing to discuss how to improve success rates in our Math Courses by discussing best practices, brain research, study skills, etc.
- Analyze data from Fall SLO Assessments, making suggestions for next steps, reassessing the same courses, and selecting NEW courses to assess in the Fall 2008
- And much, much more!!
Please know that we value and appreciate your involvement in our department and encourage you to come to the “Cookies and Conversation” Meetings and be a part of this exciting time.
P.S. Kristy has promised that at these meetings, cookies or snacks are involved. Further information on the flavor, shape and texture of said cookies is yet to be determined. An anonymous non-faculty member would like to suggest the inclusion of milk with aforementioned cookies.
