Be The Match Registry Bone Marrow Registry

A Great Success on November 14, 2012, 11 AM - 2 PM, Patio of 1700 with 58 Registrants!

Every day, thousands of patients with leukemia and other life-threatening diseases hope for a potential marrow donor to make their transplant possible. 70% of patients, or 10,000 patients annually, rely onthe marrow registry. For the first time ever, LPC's Biology club will be teaming up with Be The Match Registry (R) for a Bone Marrow Registry Drive. We had 58 people added to the registry, exceeding what is considered success by Be The Match (40) and even the higher goal of the Biology Club (50).

Message from: Nan Ho, Biology Club Advisor 11/16/2012:
“Dear Colleagues,
Thank you for your support of the Bone Marrow Registry Drive. The four-hour event was a major success, not only for the newly-registered potential donors, but also for all of you who came by and wanted to help or to get more information.

Please read the student letter below to see how you made a difference.

Thank you again,

Hello. I am Julia Stansberry, the Vice President of the Biology Club, and I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to the Las Positas campus with the great enthusiasm and interest expressed toward the marrow donor registry drive. Our original goal of registering 50 potential donors was exceeded and will give the hope for life for many patients with life-threatening blood cancers and other diseases. A very big thank you to all the administration, faculty and students! We could not have done this without each one of your support.”
