Canvas webinar training

Training for instructors of web-enhanced and non-DE hybrid courses

  • The deadline to register was Sept. 30.
  • You will be notified if your registration is confirmed.

The 20 instructors selected to receive this training will participate in the three-part Canvas Fundamentals Series, which provides hands-on training via webinars. Training is held at set times on designated dates. Canvas continually repeats these trainings, and the selected instructors will be given information on how to access them. Trainings consist of Part 1: Navigating the User Interface, Part 2: Building Course Content, and Part 3: Structuring your Canvas Course. Participants will have access to the webinars until Sept. 14, 2017. Additionally, a one-hour follow-up session with a Canvas trainer will be scheduled for the 20 instructors to ask any questions.

Priorities for selection into the webinar training are (in order):

  1. Instructor plans to utilize Canvas for at least one web-enhanced or non-DE hybrid course in Spring 2017.
  2. Instructor plans to use Canvas extensively with the above course.

Webinar descriptions

Navigating the User Interface
This training provides users with a hands-on tour of the Canvas User Interface. Participants will explore the dashboard and global navigation features; including personal settings, notifications, inbox, calendar, the help menu and more.

Building Course Content
This training provides users with a hands-on overview of course content creation tools including; pages, assignments, quizzes and discussions. Users will explore how to leverage course content, maximize student engagement and utilize progress monitoring capabilities found in Modules.

Structuring Your Canvas Course
This training encourages users to explore Canvas tools that can facilitate optimal learning experiences which engage and promote student success. Participants will explore the grading process, course design features and ways to communicate with students across multiple channels in Canvas.
