SVA and ACP Team to Connect Student Veterans with Corporate Mentors
Student Veterans of America has recently teamed up with American Corporate Partners (ACP) to provide student veterans with mentors from America's top corporations. ACP's program is completely free and open to veterans that have served on active duty since 2001 in support of OIF and OEF. ACP has partnered with eleven major corporations that are providing high-quality mentors to young veterans looking to transition out of the military into Corporate America. While they are not a jobs program, ACP mentors are providing invaluable career assistance, work-life guidance, and networking opportunities that are leading to great improvements in the personal and professional paths of the veterans in the program.
A high-quality mentor is a vital tool for navigating the waters of Corporate America, particularly for those entering the civilian job market for the first time. ACP's corporate roster boasts an impressive list of industry leaders offering one-on-one mentoring partnerships in a variety of industries, from finance and marketing to defense and technology. The program is active in 16 cities nationwide and includes mentors from Campbell Soup, Energy Future Holdings, General Electric, The Home Depot, IBM, MacAndrews & Forbes, Morgan Stanley, News Corporation, PepsiCo, Verizon Communications, The University of Oklahoma, and the University of Texas System.
Veterans interested in gaining a unique insight into Corporate America through mentorship are encouraged to apply online at www.acp-usa.org and click on the tab "Veterans" to apply to the program. ACP will be accepting applications for this phase of the program until August 31.
